What makes MinterEllisonRuddWatts a game changer?

At MinterEllisonRuddWatts we aspire to be our clients’ best partner.

Our unique culture creates greater collaboration across our firm and ensures we seamlessly service clients with our commercial solutions-based approach.

This approach also encourages a broad career path for our people, with more opportunities to work across multiple practice areas. This means our lawyers develop a breadth of skills that future proof their careers.

We think beyond the law, applying commercial knowledge and innovative thinking to some of New Zealand’s most high-profile transactions, projects and disputes.

As part of our strategy to focus on innovation, MinterEllisonRuddWatts launched the country’s first joint venture to explore artificial intelligence solutions for law in 2017. This bold move represented both a game-changing and a sector-changing shift for a top tier law firm such as ours. Our clients expect us to optimise and offer efficiencies and innovations through technology. We have a number of additional services that will enable clients to drive further value from their external legal provider. Our Client Portal is based on three modules – a document management tool (DMS), an automatic document creation tool (Autodocs) and an online obligations register (Legislation Bank). An AI-powered contract assistant for in-house legal teams, authorDOCS is designed to help legal teams draft and review contracts faster. An add-in for Microsoft Word, authorDOCS can be set-up and used within minutes with no complicated installation or changes to processes.

Leading diversity and valuing inclusion

We are proud of our people and our inclusive culture – and we continue to invest to create an environment where our people thrive. Our diverse team has created a strong performance culture where everyone is valued for their contribution to the firm’s success. Our firm’s culture is built on empowerment, diversity and inclusion.  As part of this commitment, we’ve signed up to a diversity reporting framework on gender and ethnicity representation within our firm.  Find out more at championsforchange.nz. We’re also involved in some great initiatives to encourage and support diversity:

Firm on the move

Excitement is building as our Auckland team counts down to our move into Commercial Bay when the striking new office tower opens this year.

The world-class, five-star green rated office tower is transforming Auckland’s waterfront. Located close to public transport and surrounded by 120 new, top quality restaurants, bars and retailers, and sitting amongst beautiful urban design and public spaces for all to enjoy, our new offices at Commercial Bay inspire.

Located on levels 19 to 22, our new space is designed to further enhance our team culture and well-being, as well as our unique approach to delivering the best outcomes for our clients. Adopting new technology and flexible working principles, our new space has collaboration at its core.

A stunning internal staircase links our four floors, encouraging collaboration while supporting movement and overall well-being. While personal workspaces are all open plan there are different zones designed for various working styles – from duo rooms for focused work, collab rooms for setting strategy and discussing solutions, breakout spaces allowing shifts away from personal workspaces, and a staff café as our central social hub.

The move reflects our firm’s momentum in the market, and we are all looking forward to being in a new, architecturally designed building that allows for future working styles, while also being in Auckland’s premier position.
